Breaking Hearts

So you know how you watch all the TV announcements and see plastered on the Internet that there are TONS of children waiting to be adopted- especially from the state system (foster care)?  That seems so insulting to the parent who has been waiting to hold a child in their arms for far too long.  There are TONS of kids and we need more parents to step up and help out... But then where are the kids when wonderful parents are sitting and waiting?  Something is wrong with the system.  Something is wrong with the process.

I know that everyone is doing the best they can... They are underpaid and overworked.  I know the states complicate matters by adding more paperwork.  I know that MOST of the systems are in place, in theory, to protect the kids.  I just see SO MANY shortcomings in the system.  From our experience and the experiences we see others face, the system is far from user friendly.

Kids wait years to find good homes.  Parents wait years to get selected for kids.  Does that many any sense? It doesn't make sense to the empty bedrooms and empty arms of those who are waiting.

My heart is broken today for all the parents who are still waiting.  Hold out hope.. Don't give up.  We waited- three years off and on we waited.  We know it is all in God's time, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Hold our hope friends.  Don't grow weary, but if you do, call a friend to talk.  I'm sorry if I haven't been there for someone who needs me.  I'm sorry if I haven't been as supportive as I could be. This road is hard and long and I never want anyone to feel alone.

  1. It is a hard and long road...the waiting is the most difficult part, especially if you have a child you are matched with and have to wade thru the legal processes of getting her legally free, then applying for ICPC and what not...In the meantime I can't help but miss her and the things we could already be doing together! Thanks Justagirl! I heart u!
