We decided to take our daughter off of her medication. We will see our family therapist tonight, but we feel like the medication is causing negative side effects and we have not seen any benefit at this point. The therapist and the doctor said if we were going to see some improvement it would be in the first few days... It has been more than two weeks. Our daughter has started to lie again and has developed a bit of a defiant stare at times. This is VERY uncharacteristic of her. She is our sweetheart and is always kind. Since starting the meds she definitely has a different attitude and has been getting in trouble a lot. Her teacher noticed that she was not acting like herself as well.
She continues to bring home assignments one day that she aces and the next that she fails. Her recent excuse was that she hurried through the assignment but couldn't say why she did that. She is lying about many things of late- her ripped jacket, her nail biting, her homework, her behaviors. We aren't entirely sure if it is the meds or if she is going through a stage, but we can only control one variable at a time and since she isn't benefiting from the meds anyways, we decided to go ahead and try to take her off of them and see what happens.
In other news, last night I had to work late and Kara put the kids to bed. She said she walked in to check on our son and he was looking out the window. She asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for Momma Heather... and he wanted his goodnight kiss.. Bless his heart.
Will have more updates tomorrow I am sure- after our therapy session tonight.
