May 14, 2011

OK, this is going to be a LONG post.. Just a forewarning :)

So Blogspot was doing some updating and it inadvertently caused the whole system to crash.  They had to make all blogs inactive for a few days to be able to restore everything back to normal.  So, I have a few days of information, and feelings to catch up on!

Actually I just checked and it seems that my post for the 12th that had a lot of the new news did save :) and so I won't have to redo that one :)  *phew*

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a really special one... The last year of my 20's, hopefully the last year I celebrate without little kiddos, and for my gifts I got the perfect stuff.. If you know me AT ALL you know that I am not a materialistic person! :) I would MUCH rather someone help me do something for someone else than have done for me.. Just what makes me happy :)  So, for my gift we ordered the kids BEDS :)  Yep, and they arrived yesterday :)  So now the kids have cute little single beds in their rooms.  We were debating about getting full size beds but their rooms are kinda small and I want to make sure they have room in their to have play space...and have the ability to make their bedroom their sanctuary.  I know they will come here with lots of emotional stuff that we will need to deal with and I want to make sure they have a place they can retreat to when they feel like they need a place of their own to really be able to sort through their emotions.  So the beds arrived yesterday and I put them in their rooms... That was the BEST feeling.  We also went and picked up a little night stand for our boy :) and it was perfect because it is SO cute and the woman we bought it from is a counselor starting a new business.  She said she has TONS of resources in the Polk County area and that if we need some advice she would be happy to help us navigate through the system for resources for our kids.  We  have SO MANY amazing people who have so much knowledge and are ready to help.  I have NO DOUBT that God had us wait until we were surrounded by such grace before we could adopt.  He is amazing.... Truly.

We are thinking that maybe our little girl will like to have a princess canopy that will hang from the ceiling :)

Our little boy loves cars, trucks, and bikes.  We have found some really cute little car themed pictures and things to decorate his room! This is so cute!

The final gift for my day was that Kara got me some more stuff for my garden.  I made little signs for each plant and got to work in the garden again.  It really brings me so much peace and joy to get my hands out there!  It was a perfectly hot and sunny day and I could not have asked for a better breath of God than He shared yesterday! Smile.

Here you can see the new tags in the garden!

This isn't the best picture but it was sunny! :)  And this is just for posterity sake anyways!

I am excited because I have a friend that I have reconnected with and she is just such an amazing and sweet spirit! Well her passion is in making different kinds of jewelry! I remember when we were young and my parents went through their divorce that my brother and I were always scared that my mom would walk out like my father did. She bought all three of us (my mom, my brother, and I) necklaces and charms that we each wore as a promise that we would always be together, no matter what!  We had to go visit my dad, she would have to work overnights/stay at school sometimes...and all of these things would make us scared that maybe we wouldn't be with her again...Those necklaces really meant so much to all of us.  Well, I would like to have the same thing for our kids.  I want them to know that this is their HOME and that we will get through whatever we need to get through TOGETHER.  I pray that God gives us strength to meet EVERY day and be ready for all the moments that will show up that we feel inadequate or unprepared for... That HE would be in control!  So, I asked my friend Kristin if she would make us something that we can all wear to show this promise and she said she would!  I am so excited to see what it will look like and how the kids will react.  I would love to have them by the time we travel to visit them, but I don't know if that is possible!  But either way I want to do something with them so that they know that after we leave that we WILL see them again!!

This is all so very exciting.  Each passing day brings more anticipation, love and peace...But we are still praying that God's will will be done and we vow to accept it either way.  I'm not saying that it will be easy... I know better!
